Drug Smuggling: Impact on the US Security

Many narcotics are stored in Panama before being sent to other countries. Drug consumption in nations like Panama in Central America is at an all-time high, showing that the region has emerged as a significant provider of cocaine to the United States and Europe. It poses a great security threat to the United States concerning its security. By perpetuating violence inside and between trafficking organizations and between traffickers and ordinary residents and governmental officials, the drug trade may cause widespread instability and unrest in nations of origin and transit.

Furthermore, traffickers might intentionally render disorder to impair the capacity of civil society and government organizations to intervene in their illicit activity. Corruption among public officials and drug cartels may lead to increased drug smuggling, which may interfere with security in the USA. A rise in drug smuggling might threaten national security in the United States if government officials and drug gangs are corrupt.

The FBI has decided that the best way to tackle this crime is via investigation, concentrating its efforts on taking down criminal organizations and single offenders. All elements of the illegal enterprise might be uncovered with this method (United States Department of Justice, 2022). It helps reduce the drug smuggling problem’s effect on the United States. Specific knowledge may lessen the threat that the issue poses to the United States.

A wide range of penalties, including jail time, hefty fines, community work, and probation, should apply to anybody discovered engaged in drug-related criminal activity. These practices are actionable because governments can invest in the health of their population by enforcing drug-free zones and instituting other policies supported by scientific data. Regarding the illegal purchase and sale of internationally restricted narcotics and emerging psychoactive substances through the Internet, the United States government is responsible for safeguarding the country’s youth. Government policy should prioritize getting young people involved in drug prevention.

Corruption elimination in preventing drug smuggling should be reported, but it is not actionable now. It is reportable because marijuana and cocaine are the substances most often associated with corrupt public officials (Forero, 2019). Protection for drug smugglers and drug sales are two of the most common types of criminal activity. The information on drug traffickers and the authorities who work with them must be revealed to reduce the danger to the United States. Money plays a significant part in narcotic corruption, but the fundamental issue is that laws making drugs illegal violate the principles of justice. Crime among drug traffickers, law enforcement, government officials, courts, and the military is standard in massive drug operations.

Low earnings in the public sector may contribute to the corruption crisis. The potential risk is that crime rates may rise once corruption becomes a standard procedure. Because of their knowledge of drug enforcement operations and the pervasive “culture of silence,” corrupt government workers are famously challenging to arrest, which raises security problems (Council on Foreign Relations, 2021). The collaboration of smugglers and public authorities provides extensive knowledge on how drug consumption in the United States might expand, leading to increased criminal activity. Criminal narcotics corrode not only people but also the very fabric of society.

In conclusion, the FBI has concluded that conducting investigations into criminal groups rather than targeting individual criminals is the most effective strategy for combating this crime. The safety of the United States requires disclosing information on drug smugglers and the authorities dealing with them. The cooperation between smugglers and government agencies has yielded a wealth of information on the potential for a rise in drug-related crime in the United States due to increased drug usage. Drugs obtained illegally destroy not just individuals but also the social fabric.
