Aspects of Gun Laws in the U.S.
Introduction
Every state has the right to decide how to deal with the problem of private gun ownership. Most states have a jurisdiction that requires a permit to carry a handgun. In my opinion, private gun ownership should not be outlawed because of the guarantee of Second Amendment rights and for the safety of the American people.
Civil Rights
The right of citizens to acquire, store, and use firearms, combined with the inclusion of weapons and ammunition in civilian circulation, is a natural right and cannot be restricted. A political regime where the right of citizens to own weapons is limited or not recognized can be characterized as tyrannical or despotic (Duignan, 2022). The army and the police, armed, unlike most citizens, with firearms, protect such a state from attempts to seize power by the people.
Democracy
Weapons are an attribute of democracy. The reasons for restrictions on gun ownership have historically been political, not aimed at fighting crime. This was done to ensure the unhindered implementation of the policy of terror.
No Crime Increase
The legalization of weapons will not lead to an increase in crime. Legally registered weapons are practically not used for criminal purposes all over the world (Duignan, 2022). This is because, during crimes, shell casings and bullets remain in place, which can be used to identify weapons and find the perpetrator.
Conclusion
Law-abiding citizens need to have weapons for self-defense. If they comply with their duties as citizens of a democratic State, they should also have the right to have arms. Then the weapon in the hands of citizens will be a confirmation of human rights, as it will allow them to exercise the right to self-defense.
