Shoeprint Evidence: Crime Scene Investigation

Shoes and various types of footwear are crucial evidence. They may be soiled with dust, mud, debris, plants, or blood. In addition to the availability of trace evidence, footwear is valuable for comparing pattern impressions (Fisher & Fisher, 2022). Shoes should be wrapped separately in paper bags to prevent cross-contamination with special care. Depending on the layer structure of the soil, a careful investigation of the soil may reveal the route traveled by a suspect (Fisher & Fisher, 2022). This likelihood would be substantially diminished if the dirt were dislodged and crushed during the route to the lab (Fisher & Fisher, 2022). However, in certain cases, footwear may allow the identification of a suspect and press of formal charges.

In Florida, a guy was charged with burglary after police matched his footprint to one recovered at the site of the crime. The footprint was discovered in a muddy area, and the authorities were able to use it to locate the man’s residence (Owen v. State, 1990). This is only one instance where footwear impression evidence might be used to identify a criminal. In this instance, the criminal was connected to the scene via a muddy footprint. This sort of evidence may be very beneficial for connecting a criminal to the location of a crime.

The police maltreatment of minorities is the most generally acknowledged problem in the United States. Although law enforcement is just one approach employed by the police to address the wide range of issues faced in police work, it is the one with which people are most familiar (Cordner, 2019).

Consequently, it impacts the quality of life of countless people around the nation. The police should recognize the history of ethnic minorities and anyone who has experienced injustice at their hands. Furthermore, police should never disregard the unpleasant interactions folks have had with them. The police have a history of marginalizing and mistreating African-Americans, resulting in a lack of trust and animosity. This history is mirrored in the attitudes of many individuals toward the police. A country that flourishes under the acceptance of equality and trust may benefit from more minority participation in government.
