Human Resource Management and Its Significant Regulations
Human resources management is an integral part of the development and existence of the business and the company’s economy. It includes strategies and solutions to improve workforce management in any working structure. Legislation is often supplemented by regulations that improve certain mechanisms in this area. The purpose of the work is to analyze three significant acts that have had an impact on human resource management.
Orderliness is an essential factor in management organization, and the issue of drugs has a significant impact on the development of the discipline. The Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 involves the provision of drug-free jobs as preconditions for organizations that have obtained federal grants (Robbins et al., 2012). It had a significant impact as it increased discipline in the workplace, which is the main task of human resource management (Parry et al., 2021). The next considerable regulation was the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which prohibited discrimination on the basis of disability (Robbins et al., 2012). It helped to strengthen the concepts of equality and justice at the legislative level, which had a positive impact on human resource management. People gained confidence that health factors would not become a barrier to normal socialization and living.
The third regulation is connected with the mental health of a person and the possibilities of having benefits in case of problems with the mental condition. Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 implied the provisional allocation of benefits for people with mental health problems who use psychoactive substances (Robbins et al., 2012). It affected human resource management as people were able to use the savings system to allocate benefits. In turn, this regulation gave people with mental problems the confidence to receive financial assistance and normal social interaction.
