Future Considerations in Criminal Justice
Something as complicated as the justice system will have a variety of entities influencing its destiny. To anticipate and prepare for that future, leaders must frequently pinpoint emerging trends, those important worldwide patterns that will impact various sectors. Plans for the criminal justice system must consider how to effectively mitigate adverse effects because many elements will have a significant impact.
How Social Media, the Internet, and Other Forms of Technology May Impact Future Managers of Police, the Courts, and Corrections
Social networking and other types of technology have impacted many academic fields, including forensics, hence influencing police. Technology can track the police, reveal wrongdoing, spread information, and mobilize people to respond to injustice. Forms of technology assist courts in reducing case bottlenecks by enabling witnesses to give evidence virtually or even having entire trials conducted remotely (Sourdin et al., 2020). Enhanced Internet service could help correctional facilities by enabling inmates to maintain contact with local providers of services and probation authorities before their discharge. Technology may help increase the security of home arrest, preventing low-level convicts from being booked into overcrowded jails.
How Domestic Terrorism, International Terrorism, and Other Global Crimes May Impact the American Criminal Justice System
To successfully try and convict terrorists, the justice system must cooperate with other nations. Terrorists who have carried out terrorist activities in the United States may flee and be found in other nations. Although the terrorists’ trial is outside their jurisdiction, the Criminal Justice System must be involved. They must keep a careful eye on the court cases and participate legally. To fight terrorism and certain other transnational crimes from happening, the American System of Criminal Justice had to implement new and improved regulations. The Patriot Act is one of the regulations to give law enforcers the resources to fight terrorism domestically and abroad (Dugan & Fisher, 2022). Additionally, it has improved the investigative methods law enforcement uses to track out terrorist attacks and related operations like funding.
Terrorist groups, both domestic and foreign, pose a significant risk to Americans living inside the United States and close to its frontiers. Following the attacks, victims of domestic and foreign terrorism frequently experience post-traumatic psychological stress, despair, and anxiety. Terrorism has positively impacted the U.S.; for instance, during the attacks of September 11, the U.S. took special precautions in planning a reaction for law enforcement organizations due to domestic and foreign terrorists (Schultz, 2019). Since then, new obligations and perspectives have been established for national, regional, and municipal law enforcement authorities. The American criminal justice system is prepping for new reaction tools, methods, and strategies to combat foreign and domestic extremism.
Creative Financial and Budgetary Changes That Future Managers of the Police, Courts, and Corrections Might Employ To Ensure Adequate Funding Resources for Their Agencies
Future administrators of the police department, tribunals, and correctional systems must make innovative fiscal and budgetary adjustments to support their organizations adequately. Computer-aided scheduling and other data techniques are used in innovative financial budgeting to utilize most police forces. Increasing the utilization of robotic drones, which are less expensive than police helicopters, is another way to reduce costs. The police, courts, and correctional system can introduce cost-effective options for imprisonment. This includes abolishing three-strike rules, implementing drug addiction treatment programs, and immediately and predictably punishing technical parole infractions. These less expensive options for jail may aid in lowering criminality and preserving community safety.
Conclusion
Improved allocating resources, methods, and lines of power greatly enhance the success of the police, judicial and correctional units. The justice system may benefit in the future from technology that can enhance criminal records, allow for virtual jury proceedings, and assist police personnel in stopping automated vehicles. However, overcoming human liberties, confidentiality issues, and cybersecurity concerns will be crucial to entirely using such new Internet-based capabilities. The enforcement, court, and correctional institutions will be better able to adapt, innovate, and respond by employing these tactics.
