Crime Control Policies in America

The USA is one of the countries that is trying to reduce the rate of crimes, and people have different opinions regarding the most serious types. According to Worrall (2018), individuals have approximately the same rating for criminal actions, but some prefer to look deeper into the problems. For instance, the other student and I have similar crimes in the top five list. However, while my classmate has presented more general problems like violence, drug consumption, and weapons storage, I preferred to elaborate on the consequences of the issues. For example, by explaining such crimes as burglaries, drug sales in unprivileged areas, and fights in the street with the use of guns.

Other students and I see the same benefit from police officers as they have specific regulations regarding different types of crimes. The positive effect can be seen in recent years, and the police area is becoming more popular. Nevertheless, we have different thoughts regarding those who are convinced of violence. The modern trend of dismissal of charges for physical and psychological abuse does not seem right to me, but the classmate believes that 25 years in prison or life imprisonment should not be acceptable in society these days. This point makes our papers different, and every proposal can be correct.

The least effective strategies to prevent crimes are different in both works, but I can agree with the point provided by another student. I have suggested that the supervision of probationers should not be strict as there is less effectiveness. My classmate proposed that social media platforms make people afraid, creating more punishments for insignificant crimes. Moreover, we both believe that the fight against crimes committed because of personal security does not effectively decrease the general rate.
