Juvenile Delinquency: Causes and Solutions
The current assignment focuses on the problems of juvenile delinquency. In particular, the topic concerns facts, processes, and phenomena that make underage individuals engage in criminal practices. Illegal behaviors are relatively widespread among children and teenagers, which is dangerous for society because there is a significant number of would-be criminals. That is why it is reasonable to delve into this topic to determine the most effective causes for this misbehavior. If the leading contributing causes are identified, it will be possible to take specific steps to improve the situation and reduce juvenile delinquency rates. Thus, this discussion explains why I am interested in the topic and reveals that a better understanding of the problem is necessary to solve it.
Since the topic is essential, numerous scholarly articles analyze it, and it is reasonable to look at some of them. On the one hand, Mwangangi (2019) created a high-quality paper focusing on juvenile delinquency causes. According to the researcher, various family factors significantly contribute to the problem, and they include the lack of parental support, low levels of family cohesion, violence, and neglectful parenting (Mwangangi, 2019). However, family is not the only source of juvenile delinquency causes since the problem also exists because of increased poverty, drug abuse, and poor access to education (Mwangangi, 2019). These findings reveal that appropriate and effective interventions are necessary to mitigate the problem. Suitable options include providing assistance to parents, promoting governmental changes to address systemic issues, and improving children’s resilience (Yao, 2021). This information demonstrates that the research field highlights various causes and offers numerous actions to solve the problem. Thus, a significant unresolved issue refers to determining the most influential factors and finding the most effective interventions to minimize their impact on children.
