Introduction

Inmates can only leave their cells for limited, supervised activities like showers, medical visits, and exercise. Admission to the external world is restricted, and all mail is monitored.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Prison System

There are both edges and drawbacks to utilizing supermax prisons. They effectively discourage violent incidents and protect inmates and staff from harm.
