Enhancing Ex-Offender Reintegration: A Literature Review Analysis

Literature Review on Reintegration

The article structure includes a literature review that emphasizes the role of reintegration of ex-offenders into society. The authors used literature examining the importance of a person’s reintegration into everyday life after prison. Various studies were used to highlight that ex-offenders’ employment in society is an integral part of their rehabilitation.

Moreover, the researched literature proves that reintegration is essential for reducing recidivism rates and also increases public safety (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). The sources illustrate that such an approach gives ex-offenders a chance at an everyday life. The research’s central hypothesis is that inspiring employers to hire ex-offenders who have completed rehabilitation programs is helpful in the successful social reintegration of these people (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). In addition, the authors argue that these people struggle and face barriers while finding a new job. As a result, their rehabilitation process might be inefficient.

Methodology and Research Approach

The article did not conduct any new tests or research. Instead, a literature review methodology was used. The author researched the literature and made their predictions about ex-offenders’ reintegration into society. The information was collected from news reports and published articles, which helped examine the topic from different perspectives.

Various rehabilitation programs, state initiatives, and organizations’ efforts were examined. The authors used data analysis to carefully research the gathered literature and information and make assumptions and predictions. The narrative research method was implemented to make the research process more valuable, highlighting the essential areas to investigate and make assumptions (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). Despite the lack of practical research, the article used available resources and a narrative review approach to conduct research and make conclusions.

Findings, Implications, and Limitations

The researchers stated employers can benefit from hiring ex-offenders by accessing skilled workers (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). The authors predicted that such readiness will positively impact ex-offenders, so they would desire to be hired, work hard, and earn new skills. Employers will have access to skilled workers. As a result, stability would be provided, and the risk of re-offending would be reduced.

The results showed that such an approach will decrease housing costs and care for prisoners after they are released (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). These expenses are caused by the ex-offenders’ inability to find jobs. However, when employers hire people released from prison, this positively impacts their lives and recidivism rates.

The results showed that such actions increase public safety. The research results support the hypothesis, as they indicate the importance of helping ex-offenders adapt to society. The article found that employers with ex-offenders experience positive changes, such as lower employee turnover (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021).

Ex-offenders can better reintegrate into society and become an essential part of it. This finding is crucial for further social adaptation of released people, as it proves the necessity of hiring ex-offenders and providing them access to everyday life. As a result, other people would feel safe, and the ex-offenders would have a chance to continue living normally after taking the wrong path.

Conclusion

The article states that encouraging employers to recruit formerly incarcerated individuals can effectively integrate them into society. According to the article (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021), such actions can reduce recidivism and provide ex-offenders with a promising future by creating economic opportunities. Nevertheless, the study’s limitations are the lack of practical data collection, such as primary research and data analysis.

The scope of the literature review is limited, as it focuses on only one part of the problem. The main strength of the research is that it used different sources, which helps to examine the problems from different sides (Gana, O., Saeed, K. N., & Halid, H, 2021). Future research might be based on interviews and observation methods to analyze the issue better. Such an approach will help gather more profound insights into ex-offenders’ lives.
